Alice Scott

Queer Author of (Mostly) Speculative Fiction

Alice Scott (She/They) is an author who may or may not be a ferret turned into a person by a kiss from a prince. She has a degree in creative writing from George Mason University and is currently working as an independent bookseller with a specialty in recommending queer and underappreciated books.

Alice writes about queer folks dealing primarily, though not always, with some kind of magical or supernatural bullshit. They are the author of short stories “A Professional Relationship,” “Playing Possum,” “Eggshell Girls,” “The Killing of Christian Pacey,” “The Importance of Properly Tending One’s Flowers,” “SPITE, Or: More Human in the Grave,” “WIDOWER,” and the upcoming “The Practical Man’s Guide to Cheating Death,” and “At the House of Hardincourt.”

When not working on their own writing or working at the bookstore, she can usually be found trying to convince you to read her husband’s books, scheming ideas for one of their multiple ongoing TTRPG games, reorganizing her bookshelves for the umpteenth time, or taking too many pictures of their cat.
